The discovery of Tanzia D’Ore coffee has changed my preference from Columbian Supermo. A sample was brewed and instantly knew that a higher level of enjoyment had been reached. The spelling of the name is close enough so that you will recognize it when shopping for coffee. It is made from whole beans, ground very fine and brewed as regular coffee in a cappuccino machine. It has lots of flavor, no bitterness or bit, something like stove top old fashion pot brewed coffee was supposed to taste like.

The pants selection in the closet had been becaming more of a challenge. Saturday the UCLA thrift store had a pair that almost fit. My mother taught me to use her sewing machine when I was twelve. With the use of the sewing machine and the serger those eight dollar pants allows the discarding of a less desirable. pair.

Each evening at 11:30 to 12:30 the `Charley Rose Show` is VCR’d so that it can be viewed at breakfast. He has people who are significant of in your times. The political interviewees are of interest because of the immediate happenings. His interviews with film people are interesting for who they are and not necessarily because they are famous for their acting. And so it is with others. It is inspiring to think along with them.

The birds are back. The humming birds like the re-designed feeder and the other wild birds find the food thrown to them. It is good to have them back

Thusday August 26

A slow news day,

The main things which seem to me important on
their own account, and not merely as means to other
things, are knowledge, art, instinctive
happiness, and relations of friendship or affection.

Wednesay August 25

At times I get to wanting to have a particular food for dinner and it is not on the menu. Today it was corn on cob that I wanted. An ear of corn from Ralph’s was brought home, cooked four minutes in the microwave in a plastic bag and enjoyed with the beef ribs and corn bread at St John’s cafeteria, The ribs were better than we had, in the past, at the Harris Ranch.

Tuesday August 24

More than a year ago it was decided that the birds were no longer going to feed on my patio. They made more of mess than was wanted. I missed them and have redesigned a humming bird feeder that does not leak and am throwing packets of wild bird seed to the street and parking lot. I believe this will be a solution, good for the birds and myself.

Monday August 23

Monday, St, John’s at is pleasant and sometime interesting time. At 3 P. M. there is to be a memorial service for Anita Van Dyke who died two weeks ago. She died of effects of previous illness, too many things still not well and she having been a nurse knew of the conditions for the future. She did not, could not, commit suicide , she was in a nursing home, but she wished not to live longer. It is sad to have her gone, but she did it the way she thought best for her. She will be missed by her one daughter, they were never close and her two grandchildren and missed most the by the few us who were her dinner friends.

Sunday August 22

If you have not already seen the VHS tape of the movie “Circle Of Friends”, get it and enjoy the good Irish Drama. It is copyrighted in 1995 and may not had much of play in the theatres. It is the story of first love, first kisses and first boy friends. Three girlhood friends are re-united in college, ready to experience life in fullest. I like drama, romance and passion in preference to violence .

This is a new blog the one we have been using has again been corrupted. Don't ask how!
