Volunteers like

St. John’s Medical Center had their volunteer appreciation luncheon yesterday. St. John’s Medical Center, like most hospitals have been been in a budget squeeze. The pinched budget effected the luncheon. Normally we would have had a sit-down dinner with numerous courses. The awards part of the ceremony was normal. The luncheon consisted of finger sandwiches, fruit, fancy desserts and a beverage. In order to save money the event was held in the chapel and the food was served in the nuns quarters The center has 250 volunteers. Volunteering is one of my pleasures
